FDF #013: Normal Is NOT Healthy

exercise fit daddy fundamentals healthy normal is not healthy Mar 16, 2024

I hope you're having a great weekend and are ready for the week!

Today, we're going to discuss a concept that probably won't surprise you:

Healthy is not normal, and normal is not healthy.

This might seem counterintuitive, but let's dive a little deeper into what this really means for us as dads trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and our families.

The Sad Reality: Healthy Isn't Normal

In our society today, it's considered "normal" for people to consume unhealthy foods on a regular basis.

It's not unusual for us to say "yes" to sugar-packed sodas, tempting breakfast cereals for our kids, processed lunch snacks, questionable cafeteria food, deep-fried appetizers, and artificially colored candies.

The list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, these habits have become the norm – but that doesn't mean they are healthy.

And the problem is being "normal" and not being healthy is keeping you where you are.

The Inspiring Truth: You Don't Need to be Normal

If you've been following the path of what's considered "normal," chances are you've realized it isn't leading you where you want to be – healthier and more fit.

Remember that just because something is common doesn't mean it's good for you or your family.

Just because everyone gets the combo, with fries and a coke... doesn't mean you need to.

Just because everyone at the table ordered dessert, doesn't mean you have to.

As dads dedicated to breaking away from unhealthy norms, we need to take charge and lead by example.

Be a proud example of not being normal.

How We Can Make A Change

To make lasting improvements for ourselves and our families, we need to take a stand against the unhealthy aspects of normalcy. Here are some steps you can take:

1. Say "no" more often – Resist the temptation of unhealthy choices in favor of nutritious alternatives.

2. Educate yourself and your family about healthier options – Knowledge is power; don't be swayed by misleading marketing.

3. Lead by example – Show your kids that making better choices has a positive impact on your life and they will follow suit.

Taking a stand against unhealthy habits isn't always easy – but the rewards are monumental.

Together, let's promote a healthier lifestyle for ourselves and our children.

We have the power to positively influence their future health, focus, and success in all aspects of life.

Step up and lead the charge – choose health over normal.
